GIA Style Card // Help From My Friends

John Donne’s Meditation XVII is an eloquent reminder that we are all members of a global community.

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.”

It has been so heartwarming to see the Second Life community come together for a charitable cause once more – this time in support of our brothers and sisters in Haiti who have very recently been impacted by disastrous earthquakes.

A group of philanthropic content creators have come together to make a host of items available with proceeds going to the International Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts in Haiti, ultimately giving those affected the opportunity to rebuild their lives … with a little help from their friends (great tune!).

This week, Strawberry Singh and I  headed over to the Haiti Relief skybox in Scribble (128, 128, 400) (open until Sunday, January 24) to pick up some items and contribute to the cause.

There are many ways you can give in Second Life. You can purchase clothing/accessories at the Haiti Relief skybox in Scribble (128, 128, 400) or home furnishings and other sculpted items at Root Beer by Daniel Luchador at Tableau (95, 80, 26) until January 24 – 100% of funds go to the International Red Cross. You can also donate at International Red Cross kiosks across the grid, which many merchants are placing in their shops.

In real life, there are dozens of organizations which are mobilized to help Haiti. Find out how you can give by clicking here.

Items marked with a “” are currently available at Scribble (128, 128, 400).
